North Weald Airfield Friday 12th September 2014

I decided to spend a few hours at my local airfield, North Weald, on 12th September 2014.

The prospects for my being able to visit Duxford, two days later, to see the two Lancasters wasn't

looking good, so, to cheer myself up & knowing one or more of the Gnats would be flying,

I headed to North Weald.

The weather was good and out on the pan when I arrived was Hawker Hunter T.7, WV372/R.

Together with several BAC Jet Provosts, the Norwegian Heritage Flight Vampire & Douglas C-54Q Skymaster, (DC-4), 56498.

It turned out to be a cracking day. The Hunter departed soon after 1PM, it was heading for Duxford for the weekend.

My visit really took off (sic) at around midday with the arrival of a Westland AH-1 Longbow Apache from

RAF Wattisham. The aircraft proceeded to do a couple of touch-and-go's before heading off into the distance.

Also making an appearence later that afternoon was Douglas DC-3 Dakota, 'Drag-em-Oot' 2100882/P

which came in for a gas-and-go.

The Gnat which flew late in the afternoon was XR538/01 (G-RORI). All in all a really good day :
